Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) enable mainly young scientists from one COST country to visit a laboratory in another COST country to foster collaboration, to learn a new technique or to make measurements that cannot be made in their own laboratory. Funding is available to support a number of missions per year of between one week and three months to progress the aims of the PHOTOTECH action.  The Action aims to fund several of these STSMs per annum.  Funding comprises a retrospective payment to cover the costs of travel and subsistence.

If you wish to apply for funding to support a STSM you should contact the STSM Manager, Ioanna Zergioti (zergiotiATcentral.ntua.gr).  Applications are made through an online registration tool on the COST web site. In your application you will need to clearly state how the STSM will contribute to the specific aims of the COST Action, i.e. refer to specific a Working Group, a Work Package and to which deliverable the STSM will contribute. As funds are limited, preference will be given to early years researchers and note will be taken of whether the laboratory/individual has benefitted from previous funding.

Reimbursement following the STSM will be subject to the provision of a report on the scientific activities carried out to be submitted within 4 weeks of the visit.  This report will need to explicitly address how the STSM has contributed to the objectives of the Action.

STSMs that have taken place include:
